Shaun and Anna’s Wedding Day
Kent Wedding Photography – A Blog By Ben at Bubbles Studio
People getting married are known to go through emotions and this day had no exceptions. Shaun and Anna’s wedding was wonderful to be part of. Getting to be a photographer is a dream come true for me and when its days like this, it just makes my dreams so much sweeter. Let me tell you about it.
The Wedding Venue – The Blazing Donkey, Ham
This was the first time at this wedding venue and what a lovely setting it is. When the sun was shining it really showed the beauty of such a unique setting. Located in the the Sandwich, Kent I can only recommend this as a wonderful wedding venue. Take a look at their site then click here
Prepping for the Wedding
This is possibly my favourite part of the wedding, seeing the transformations of the bridesmaids and brides. Every one is different, they can be relaxed or chaotic, jolly or tearful.
Anna and Shaun’s prep had the best of everything, with it starting off as a rather cloudy day so Anna was on tender hooks as she was hoping for an outside wedding. Then we heard the thunder, which we could tell was heading our way. Within a minute the rain started to fall. This was not what was wanted. However, with Anna’s bridesmaids on hand and a few words of advice, Anna was convinced that is was family who couldn’t be there in person, were there in spirit. After a couple of minutes the rain had passed and the sun was shining, and the prep was in full swing.
Getting the Boys Ready
The boys, Shaun and his groomsmen, as you imaging when I arrive, in there pants. When I go and start taking photos of the groomsmen I have two or three jobs. Firstly, I am their photographer, secondly their timekeeper to keep them on track and organised and thirdly I am also tie tier-upper (not sure if that is a job), because no one else seems to know how to tie them.
Well this is a ceremony like no other I had ever seen, this is Because of the earlier rain and some questionable looking clouds it was unsure if the ceremony would be outside, which Anna and Shaun had been dreaming of. After a discussion with Anna, the registrar and the team at the Blazing Donkey, they came to a decision.
Wow, what a decision… A standing ceremony, this way chairs won’t get damaged and the guess can head inside if it was to rain.
This produced a wonderful personal ceremony which had the guests surrounding the gazebo. Because of this a truly beautiful and unique ceremony was created. Guess what? it didn’t even rain, well not during the ceremony any ways.

The Arrival Drinks, Wedding Breakfast and Speeches
With the ceremony over we all hurried inside before the weather decided to make a turn for the worst, this was to ensure all the legalities where completed. After the announcement of the newly married Mr and Mrs Bennett, the sun was still shining. Having got arrival drinks from the main bar, guests were soon outside enjoying the sun while it lasted. A few candid shots of the guests as well as the odd group shot, everyone had relaxed about the weather and before you knew it, it was time to sit down for the meal.
Moving from day into the Evening
Before the nights festivities, there was a little chill time. This to me is the time I get to take the bride and groom away and realise they have just got married. I give the a relaxed photo shoot, where they get the time to talk and spent some time alone, while I get to capture some beautiful moment. Of course this was after they got covered in confetti, then after the throwing of the bouquet.
Cutting of the Cake, First Dance and Party Time
For Anna and Shaun this was the final instalment of their wonderful day, no need to worry, its a good, no a great ending to a wonderful day. The cake got cut and they was more than happy to feed it to each other. After the cake we moved into the first dance and from there the evening had officially been kicked off. Anna and Shaun along with their family and friends know how to have a good party, with dance moves galore and just good fun, which I couldn’t help but dance along with a few things myself.

And Thats All Folks
Wow, wow, wow. Anna and Shaun let me start by saying congratulations. This wedding was truly unique. With the standing ceremony and the many emotions felt on the day.
Thank you for letting me be a massive part of your day. I can only agree with what your mum said to me and my wife… We arrived as a Photography Team and are leaving as friends. That was on e of the best compliments we have ever had the honour of receiving.
We wish you all the happiness in the world and many more happy memories like these ones.
